Will IT? Won't IT?

I will reserve my comments until we see what happens today. We all know that things can go wrong in many ways but if in the end they deliver, all will be forgotten. If the problem really is one of a simple mechanical nature then Steorn must be in an uncomfortable place now. Tempted as I am, I won't add to that discomfort.

Maybe I will be proved wrong. But the answer to your "will it wont it" question is going to be that we will never know. You never do in these cases, you just get a long litany of excuses and promises. And maybe they are valid excuses. The musuem is supposed to open at 11 - presumably British Summer Time - and Steorn have really put their head on the chopping block. My prediction is simple - they wrap up their boxes and head home saying something about technical reasons and that we will have to wait for validation. Hat eatting may be on the cards - but this failure to replicate the technology outside of their labs proves that this is some form of measurement error or something to do with the local environment. Who knows what. I was, and still am, willing to accept visual proof. I will believe my eyes if I see it work - I dont think these people would fake anything. But as of yet my eyes have seen nothing - and I suspect they wont. A pity - nice dream while it lasted.

Paul, assume you saw this on the Steorn home page..?

Important update on the Kinetica demo:

We are experiencing some technical difficulties with the demo unit in London. Our initial assessment indicates that this is probably due to the intense heat from the camera lighting. We have commenced a technical assessment and will provide an update later today. As a consequence, Kinetica will not be open to the public today (5th July). We apologise for this delay and appreciate your patience.

I think this forum can be closed down now. Steorn is finished. Strangely, the demo actually provided positive proof of whatever serious error are at the theoritical heart of their invention. By being forced to build a simple version of the machine, reflecting their theory, they removed any external source that could be powering it. They also took it outsdie the lab. What was left was a mechanical representation of their basic theory and they could not get it to work. No doubt there will be buckets of excuses. And I remain convinced they are just people who deluded themselves - not scam artists. A warning to us all! But as Tony Blair said last week, thats it folks the end.

Are you always giving up so early?
i do feel sorry for you then.
All we have to do is wait. Nobody gets hurt (only the reputation of steorn)

So lets just do that, wait....

The whole thing is gone off the "sanity" scale now. Steorn just made the following comment "the Orbo free energy device is no longer on display in the Kinetica Museum in London. Engineers are testing it off site, said McCarthy , who is currently looking at the machine with his engineering team, trying to assess specifically what happened, and if it is permanently damaged." Damaged by lights! I mean really, it is just descending into farce. It is like passing by a car crash - you dont want to look, but you do anyway.
This whole thing is like a slow motion wreck. Considering the obvious professionalism of the whole show, might not the obvious question be asked "why did they not just build and test a machine off site and bring it in the back of your car and plop it up on the display stand?". It seems almost suicidal to build the thing there and then on the day! It shows terrific confidence or blind confidence. In the end it proves one thing - it doesnt work. I suppose we all knew this all along, but the kid in us hoped.
I is worth stating however that these people deserve some credit. They put their money and reputations on the line with this and well.....I think it is obvious what has happened to both. It is a pity, I think they should be left alone now. NO crowing about "I told you so!".. It is a tragic situation which is, I suspect, going to have enormous practical consequences for the employees of Steron and their company and familes. We have all made mistakes - some big some small.
Paul, I think you should do the descent thing and close this website so we all dont waste anymore time staring at this car crash. Kind Regards to all.

I think you hit the nail on the head. If they can't build a simple device to reliably demonstrate the effect, there is no effect.
