London Demo

The first media report is out in the Belfast Telegraph regarding the London Demo.

Not too impressive but then, what can they say? That's the problem with wanting to be first - no information to go on.

Over the next 10 days I will make a number of visits to the demo and keep you informed as I get more information.

This could be the start of a new journey for us all - will media attention reflect this or will they be too busy chasing Ms Hilton? I'm sure they can do both. There are a lot of serious journalists out
there who fully understand the implications. If the demo lives up to the bill then the media will run with it, I'm sure. We're about to find out either way.

I wonder whether the misspelling of Orbo as Orba was deliberate. The Belfast telegraph realizing that if this turns into an embarrassing fiasco, then they are disassociated with it via any Google search?

After all there are no typesetters any longer so are we to assuming that a journalist made a spelling mistake TWICE?

Hi All,

On mobile. They are setting up. I will hopefully see the Orbo tomorrow. Journalists first. (As a member of the SPDC. I missed a trick). Still, we wait, but journalists will soon have something tangible to report and I can talk a little more freely. All I can say now is that they are setting up a professional environment. Will post pics when I can.

Paul,

Lots of confusion on the Steorn Forum with folks thinking is was 6pm UK time...although the link page does say 6pm Eastern..which is 11pm UK.
I have just come off that forum and going to bed now..3am over here;-)

Was the 11pm UK time deliberate on Steorn's part because they could only get the setup time at Kinetica for less than 1 day??
Their various IT support folks are going to have a long night..

Sorry Guys,

1.30 on the morning. Very tired. We have been waiting for this for decades or perhaps centuries. We are too impatient in our modern expectations of instant gratification. If it is true, it will be true - it's as simple as that.

Maybe we are too expectant. But when a company tells us they have broken the laws of physics the onus is on them. For a company that bends over backwards not to look like bogus, this is all beginning to look very suspicious. The original press release said 6PM BST not EST as they later claimed. This little slight of hand is suspicious as they were obviously having technical problems. Why not be honest at the start, rather than have it forced out of them when they could not produce the goods at 11pm? They bluffed and lost. Furthmore, the technical problems are obviousyl with the machine as reporters were also kept out. If the "technical" problem was with the streaming on the Internet reporters could have come for a look. By Steorn's own admission this was a simplified version of the machine and if a simple version wont work on demand what does that say? These people have blown their credibility to pieces - the media are now starting to cover the failure to produce the machine. If this goes beyond a 2nd day they are finished I would think.
